- A Summary of Discussion on Parallel Languages by Greg Pfister, IBM
The following posting created interesting discussion on TCSC Mailing List: Does anybody have a pointer to a history of parallel and/or concurrent languages? Unfortunately, this is a time-critical request; I need to give a talk on it in a week (company internal, but I'll of course share what I'm helped on with the community). There are a number of computer histories I can find; for example, Gregory V. Wilson's was particularly useful, but it mostly ignores languages. There are sites that do list many languages -- "Nan's Parallel Computing Page", Jonathan Hardwick's list of research groups, and the Internet Parallel Computing Archive, for example. But they tend to simply list efforts in alphabetical order, and seldom provide dates and origination information. Any pointers will be appreciated. Thanks.
