The TCSC Young Researcher Forum's goal is to provide a means for PostDoc researchers, PhD students and other student researchers to share valuable information and pointers that help in creating valuable research contributions. In addition it is planned that the forum organizes an annual workshop in conjunction with a TCSC conference to provide a means for young researchers to present their thoughts and ideas on the workshop topic, network with peers. The forum will also distribute student travel funding allocations for TCSC conferences in the future.

On Research Visibility and Impact:
Research Funding:
When looking for research funding in the U.S. it may be a good idea to sign up
for NSF's New E-Newsletter to receive information about current developments and new funding programs. NSF also has specialized programs for postdocs that you may want to investigate.
Consider local funding opportunities (e.g. State research initiatives and research centers at your own or other universities in your state). Such programs often are a great way to get small to medium funding for e.g. a graduate research assistant or post doc position and some conference travel.

Student Travel Funding for TCSC Conferences :
The TCSC Young Researcher Forum is planning to assist with conference travel funding for students who contribute actively to this forum and a future symposium on topics pertaining to young researchers in the scalable computing area. We are currently working on a rules and guidelines for this support.
TCSC Young Researcher Programming Contest :
Currently the TCSC Young Researcher Forum is considering to offer a programming contest that covers the area of scalable computing. We learned that there now exsists one programming contest in this area that you may want to participate in: the Virginia Tech High-End Computing Challenge.
