TCSC - University of Melbourne Student Travel Scholarship for eScience 2007 (For India-based Students)

The IEEE Technical Committee on Scalable Computing (TCSC) is pleased to offer assistance for Indian students to attend the 3rd International Conference on e-Science and Grid Computing (eScience 2007) to be held in Bangalore, India in December 2007. The grants are to be used for the reimbursement of travel and other expenses of selected students. The scholarship, valued at AUD 5,000, is sponsored by The University of Melbourne, Australia.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Each student should be enrolled in a postgraduate (M.E./M.Tech./M.Phil/Ph.D.) program in Computer Science or related disciplines such as IT, Software Engineering at an Indian university or educational institution. Final year B.E/B.Tech students are also eligible to apply. Please note that this grant is available only for students from India. Students outside India may apply for the TCSC Travel Grant.

All eligible students are welcome to apply for the scholarship. Preference will be given to students who will be presenting a paper or poster at the meeting. A committee consisting of Rajkumar Buyya (University of Melbourne), Manish Parashar (Rutgers: New Jersey State University), Kenneth Chiu (State University of New York - Binghamton), and Srikumar Venugopal (University of Melbourne) will select the recipients based on the evaluation of the application material.

  1. A short vita that includes the student's research interests, projects, and papers published.

If possible, please include the following with your application:

  1. A letter from the student describing his/her academic standing and interests, his/her expected graduation date and degree, advisor's name, and, if available, a link to the student's web page. In a statement of 500 words or less, the student should indicate why attending the meeting would be useful for his/her research or career.
  2. A letter of recommendation from the student's advisor.
  3. If applicable, the title(s) of the paper(s) to be presented (co-authored) by the student at the meeting.
  4. A link to the Web pages that describe their research.

Notes: All these documents must be sent together in a single email. The email subject must include the words TCSC - University of Melbourne eScience 2007 Student Travel Grants .
